Lauren Adelson joined BJE as its Controller and head of HR in January 2017, bringing 25 years of finance, event planning and residential camp administration experience to the organization. She has proven success streamlining financial and operational processes, improving company performance and profitability. Lauren enjoys developing strategies and introducing innovative products to leverage technology and modernize traditional operations.
After receiving her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, Lauren began her career in the hospitality industry in a management training executive development program with InterContinental Hotels New York, transitioning to meetings and conventions management with a number of nonprofit organizations. After having children, Lauren joined her family business, directing a children’s overnight camp for 300 campers and 175 employees, including financial oversight.
Lauren returned to the private sector as General Manager for a wholesale food marketer where she oversaw the finance and administration of eight sales offices. In 2011, she joined Circle Lodge/Camp Kinder Ring of the Workmen’s Circle Inc. as a financial consultant. She later became the Director of Business Operations and Group Sales where she managed the financial and business operations for the overnight residential camp, Camp Kinder Ring, and Circle Lodge, a retreat center for groups, overseeing sales and on-site management for B’nai Mitzvot, weddings and Jewish cultural retreats.
In 2015, Lauren relocated to Los Angeles with her husband Ken and sons Robert and Michael. Since joining BJE in 2017, she has migrated the financial and payroll systems, created an intricate digital budgeting process and introduced professional development opportunities for the staff. She finds it rewarding to support an organization that services the greater Los Angeles Jewish Community and is grateful to work side-by-side with BJE’s dedicated volunteer leadership.
