Rachel Donitz Kaplan is BJE’s "Concierge" for Jewish Education.  In this capacity, she assists families in identifying the best Jewish educational opportunities for their children.  She also works in partnership with local early childhood centers, day schools, religious schools and summer camps to increase the visibility of formal and informal Jewish educational opportunities in the Greater Los Angeles area.



Rachel grew up in the Valley and attended Adat Ari El, where she became a Bat Mitzvah and later taught Hebrew School. Prior to her work with BJE, Rachel was Director of Children’s Services and Family Programs at the West Valley JCC.  For the past 25 years, Rachel has also taught CPR and First Aid privately and to the staffs of schools, camps and organizations.



Rachel holds a BA in Child Development from California State University-Northridge. She is married to Rabbi Bill Kaplan, who is the Executive Director of the Shalom Institute.  They have two children: Noah, a Senior at UC Berkeley, and Rebecca, a Sophomore at Wesleyan University, both her kids attended Jewish Day school from preschool through high school.
