Registration is now open for BJE’s Day School & Yeshiva Administrators’ Retreat on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at The Luxe Sunset Hotel at 11461 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, 90049.
We are very excited that Dr. Denise Pope will be facilitating the retreat. The topic of the day is “The Well-Balanced Student.” Denise Pope is a senior lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education and the co-founder of Challenge Success. She is also the author of “Doing School: How We Are Creating a Generation of Stressed-Out, Materialistic, and Miseducated Students” and her most recent book, “Overloaded and Underprepared: Strategies for Stronger Schools and Healthy, Successful Kids.” A world-recognized educator and former Jewish day school parent, Denise will share the latest research on student stress and well-being in K-12 schools and discuss root causes, symptoms, and concrete strategies for improving student well-being. Through facilitated exercises school teams will identify sources of stress and disengagement from learning at their school sites and will brainstorm action plans for positive changes at their schools based on the Challenge Success SPACE (Schedule, PBL, Assessment, Climate of Care, Educating the Whole School) framework. To that extent, you are encouraged to bring as many members of your leadership/academic team as you are able to maximize this experience.
