BJE Impact: The Center for Jewish Service Learning

  • Girls at Pico Union ProjectBJE Impact: The Center for Jewish Service Learning seeks to inspire Jewish youth to “Learn. Act. Reflect. IMPACT.” Our goal is for youth to engage in meaningful service opportunities that combine hands-on action, Jewish learning, and identity building.

We provide:

  • Program consultation
  • Program facilitation
  • Professional development training and workshops
  • Partnership and support to educators, schools, and experiential programs.
  • A website, www.bjeimpact.org, which links youth and educators with community service opportunities around the Greater Los Angeles area, provides education and reflection resources, and highlights “My Impact” profiles of youth, schools, and programs in action.

Our consultation and resources are all offered for free, and we have a consultant who focuses in the West Valley/Conejo Valley areas, as well as one who focuses in the City and surrounding areas.

In the words of one of our partner educators:

“[BJE Impact] was an unbelievable resource for us on so many levels. She [the consultant] helped us tease out our vision and lay it out…connected us to organizations [for service projects], pushed us to think about and define our vision, and she led a wonderful training for our head staff.”

We also run our own Jewish Service Learning programs, such as the BJE Teen Service Corps, a summer day camp for entering 7th – 10th graders.
