BJE Builder: Ori Zadok, Early Childhood Center Director Rose Engel Early Childhood Center at Adat Ari El
A connection to the past helps inform students’ values for the future. So in early education where a person’s identity begins to form, the work we do is to create positive associations with their Jewish identity so they can bring the power of their Jewish self to their lives.
A Builder of Jewish education is someone who crafts either time or space for Jewish learning in all its various forms. Our educators create organic Jewish opportunities so that learning for child and family is immersive and experiential.
When it came to the early childhood center, our Adat Ari El community made the calculated decision not to take the risk of managing a school that would have a great deal of uncertainty in the here and now. We chose to delay the start of the ECC until January 2021. Adat Ari El has existed for over 80 years; we know that this pandemic will pass and we will hope to continue to build upon our Jewish community once it does. We currently engage our ECC families with Tot Shabbats, Havdalah and bedtime stories, virtual wine tasting event, and virtual standup comedy night.
Ori Zadok is being recognzed at BJE's Out of the Box Gala on February 5th.
