BJE Supports Jewish Day Schools in Los Angeles
BJE ensures that Los Angeles Jewish day schools and educators are the best they can be by providing professional development opportunities and working with schools to build endowments.
"As an administrator, I appreciate the professional support the BJE gives Yavneh. You guys are always there when we have questions that need answering, always there when we need guidance, and always there challenging me to be a better administrator and steward of Yavneh. But beyond all of that, I am a parent of Jewish children in Los Angeles and I personally am so grateful that you and the whole BJE team are the bedrock of Jewish Education in our community." - Lev Stark, Executive Director, Yanveh Hebrew Academy
For the 2016-17 academic year BJE, with generous support from the Jewish Federation, has accessed nearly $1.7 million in federal funding (Elementary and Secondary Education Act - ESEA) earmarked for professional development and to assist students falling behind academically. Educators from BJE LAUSD Consortium day schools access high quality professional development ranging from Hebrew Language Proficiency, to Project Based Learning to Differentiated Instruction. In addition, through the work of the Jim Joseph High School Affordability Initiative and Generations LA, BJE has helped 21 day schools raise over $36 million in endowment funds.
