The Louis B. Silver Religious School at the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center is looking for educators for the 2017-2018 (5778) school year!
We are seeking educators who are:
- passionate about the role of Judaism in their own lives
- knowledgeable about Jewish observance, traditions, and culture
- able to read Hebrew fluently
- either an experienced teacher or excited about learning and growing as a teacher
Open positions include:
A 3rd or 5th grade teacher. These classes meet on Sundays (9:30-12:30), Tuesdays (4:00-6:00), and occasional Friday nights throughout the year (negotiable).
A Hebrew tutor for Sunday mornings. This person is comfortable working in 1-1 or 2-1 settings, has experience teaching Hebrew decoding, can keep organized records and notes, and is flexible when working with changing class schedules.
A short term 4th grade teacher (September – December). Our current 4th grade teacher is going on parental leave in the fall. This position may be combined with the Youth Director position.
A short term Youth Director. Our current Youth Director is going on parental leave. A successful candidate will be available from the end of August-December. They will work with our current Youth Director to build relationships with our students. This position may be combined with the 4th grade teacher position.
The Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center (PJTC) is a synagogue and community center affiliated with the Conservative Movement whose members observe a wide range of Jewish beliefs and practices.
PJTC is dedicated to perpetuating all aspects of Jewish life and to fostering a sense of Jewish identity among its members, both as individuals and as a community. The Temple provides an active house of prayer, education and assembly.
