Reshet-LA Innovators COP
Reshet-LA is an effort by the BJE to stimulate and support innovation in religious schools in greater Los Angeles through workshops, mentoring, and a Community of Practice. The project is funded by the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.
Reshet-LA launched in July 2017, and has worked with 21 educators in 15 schools to begin the process of transforming their religious schools. The Innovators COP developed a model with four stages: listening to their community; creating a vision based on their learnings; experimenting with models that express that vision; and creating an ecosystem and culture that sustains and supports ongoing transformation.
The program uses workshops to help PTJE schools develop readiness for this type of change process and a deeper Community of Practice (CoP) for those prepared to engage in such a process. In Tier 1, members of the CoP attend additional sessions and receive regular coaching as participants in the program. Tier 2 of the program includes the launching of innovative prototypes within their schools. Six of the schools who started last year in the first cohort will continue into Tier 2 during the 2018-19 academic year. In addition, three to five new schools will be brought as participants in the First Tier.
