Reshet-LA Innovator COPs
Reshet-LA is an effort by the BJE to stimulate and support innovation in religious schools in greater Los Angeles through workshops, mentoring, and a Community of Practice. The project is funded by the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.
Reshet-LA launched in July 2017, and has worked with 21 educators in 18 schools to begin the process of transforming their religious schools. The Innovators COP developed a model with four stages: listening to their community; creating a vision based on their learnings; experimenting with models that express that vision; and creating an ecosystem and culture that sustains and supports ongoing transformation.
The program uses workshops to help PTJE schools develop readiness for this type of change process and a deeper Community of Practice (CoP) for those prepared to engage in such a process. In Tier 1, members of the CoP attend additional sessions and receive regular coaching as participants in the program. Tier 2 of the program includes the launching of innovative prototypes within their schools.
In 2019-2020 Reshet LA's Innovators CoP will have fifteen schools participating. Seven returning schools will continue implementing innovation initiatives - Temple Ramat Zion, Sinai Temple, Temple Emanuel Beverly HIlls, Temple Akiva, Temple Aliyah, Temple Ahavat Shalom and IKAR.
We are excited to welcome seven new schools into the ICoP. They include Stephen Wise Temple, Valley Outreach Synagogue, Leo Baeck Temple, Temple Menorah, Valley Beth Shalom, Silverlake Independent JCC, and Kol Tikvah. This is Reshet LA's ICoP largest entering cohort of schools to date.
