For Reconstructionists, Judaism is more than a religion; it is a civilization encompassing history and literature, art and music, land and language, as well as spirituality and ritual. We seek a Judaism that promotes innovation that is deeply rooted in Jewish tradition, while reflecting the understandings and spiritual yearnings of contemporary Jews.

Brawerman Elementary School West of Wilshire Boulevard Temple is a reform Jewish day school with the highest academic standards where students learn Jewish values, personal responsibility, a contemporary understanding of our Torah tradition, Hebrew, and the relationship of the Jewish people to Israel. We are committed to providing a nurturing community, a state-of-the-art facility, a dynamic curriculum, and an integrated approach to Jewish and secular studies, all with unique opportunities to learn about and participate in the arts and sports. Brawerman West serves students K through 6th.

Location: Three Campuses Offer Religious Schools - One in West Los Angeles and the other in the heart of Los Angeles.

Our program is diverse, fun, interactive, and creative. We use informal, active, and experiential lessons to make Judaism come alive, and to connect Judaism to the lives of our students and families.

We encourage students to question and challenge their beliefs. Students learn about the complexity of Torah and Israel through debate and constant inquiry. They become exposed to the rhythms of the Jewish calendar and Jewish holidays by living them and relating them to their everyday interests.

We at University Synagogue believe that the purpose of Religious School is:

To instill a sense of pride in a child?s Jewish heritage and an appreciation of the beauty of Jewish tradition as guided by the principles of Reform Judaism.

To teach Judaism and Jewish living for the next generation and develop an understanding of where each individual fits into the community.

To teach the how and why of Judaism in order to create a positive Jewish identity that makes for a long-lasting and meaningful connection to Judaism.

A Service Program for Jewish Teens and Young Adults with Autism and Neurodiverse Abilities in cooperation with Los Angeles Senior Living Communities and other Local Service Organizations

The Mann Family Early Childhood Center, located at our Westside Irmas Campus, builds strong bodies, minds, and spirits.
