As BJE marks the milestone of 80 years of strengthening Jewish education in Los Angeles, its 2017 study series—an annual invitational program for donors of $1,000+ to the prior year’s campaign - focused on the past, present and future of Jewish education in our community and beyond. Part-one of the three-part series took place on Sunday evening October 29, 2017 and Gil Graff PhD, BJE Executive Director spoke about major trends in the history of Jewish education in the United States.

BJE Impact: The Center for Jewish Service Learning seeks to inspire Jewish youth to “Learn. Act. Reflect. IMPACT.” Our goal is for youth to engage in meaningful service opportunities that combine hands-on action, Jewish learning, and identity building, and we support and facilitate this through a variety of ways.

I attended high school at Hamilton Academy of Music, where I played in several bands and the orchestra for theatrical productions. I also played with my mom, dad and brothers in our family band, “The Rolling Steins.” Now my wife has joined the band and we joke that she had to audition to join the family, despite the fact that she is incredibly talented.
