BJE Impact: Jewish Service Learning

BJE Impact: The Center for Jewish Service Learning seeks to inspire Jewish youth to “Learn. Act. Reflect. IMPACT.” Our goal is for youth to engage in meaningful service opportunities that combine hands-on action, Jewish learning, and identity building, and we support and facilitate this through a variety of ways.

Educator and Program Consultations support and resources available at no cost to educators.

BJE March of the Living

BJE's March of the Living, which leaves Los Angeles on April 19, 2017, teaches powerful lessons of Jewish history, personal Jewish identity and has a profound impact on its participants. On Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Los Angeles delegation, along with thousands of people from all over the world, march from Auschwitz to Birkenau to remember the lives lost during the Holocaust. In Israel, programming gives participants the opportunity to look forward and see all of the incredible accomplishments and advancements the Jewish state has made since its establishment.

I think being a Builder of Jewish education is about laying the foundation for others to build on top of. I love the work that I get to do here, working with other educators to provide support, and working with teens.

What is unique about working with teens is that they’re at a stage where they’re trying to figure out who they want to be in the world, how they matter. They’re asking big questions and grappling with big ideas.
