Advanced Writing Workshop K-5

You have worked hard to establish your Writing Workshop to support your student writers with independence. During writing time, we suggest strategies for students to use and send them off to continue with their writing. As they work, we assess their goals and skill progression so we can start to make decisions of where and how to offer support. In our efforts to support students on their path to being independent thinkers and writers through our conferring and small group work, we need materials to use in the moment and in future teaching. The focus of this workshop will zoom in on what teaching materials we would like to have on hand to ensure our conferring and small group time is clear, explicit, and efficient.

This workshop will also:

  • Review the differentiated teaching structures of conferring and small group work
  • Use assessments to help us make teaching decisions
  • Explore a few teaching method choices we can make when supporting writers
  • Provide ample time across the day to make-and-take items to add into your current writing toolkits.

All training is at no cost.  Open to members of the BJE Consorium.
