THE WRITING WORKSHOP K-2ND GRADE

Launching the Writing Workshop in a K-2 Classroom

(August 1st and 2nd)

Let’s kick off this new school year together with a study around the foundations of a Writing Workshop! We will crack open the ideas and practices of this instructional structure that supports explicit instruction, opportunities for differentiation, and student independence. These two days are designed to take you through a series of experiences and explorations around the elements that compose a strong writing curriculum. You will also:

-           Study student writing to look for strengths and opportunities to teach

experience the workshop structure and the writing process

-           Explore strategy instruction

-           Think about how grammar and language standards fit into the workshop

-           Leave with a plan to start the school year
